I’ve been writing online for six years now.
Well, that’s a lie. I dabbled in some blogging over ten years ago when I was newly married. The internet back then was the wild wild west. Keywords were thrown everywhere, stuffed in posts and in URLs, and it was not unheard of to make a product niche site like zebra print rugs (dot com).
But, I found writing about different products boring and moved on with my life and started university and working with children with autism.
I learned that I loved helping others and teaching.
Early this month I sent out an email to a segment of my list of around 18,000 subscribers and used the AIDA copywriting formula.
As an email copywriter, I figured I’d give the AIDA formula a try and was pleasantly surprised. In the email, I shared a course that I don’t heavily promote. It will be used for Facebook ads in the future so I wasn’t actively sharing it. I noticed, however, many subscribers from my email the week prior, were clicking on that course but weren’t converting.
If you don’t already know, those successful blogs and people you learned about as a budding blogger— Amy Porterfield, Alex & Lauren, Tony Robbins, etc.— you would be surprised to learn that they failed before they saw success.
Here’s an example from Alex and Lauren of Create and Go (just so you know they earn around $100,000 per month) and their journey to success. On their about page, they chronicle their journey to six figures and mention their first blog failed, miserably.
“Honesty time… After 3 months, our first attempt at blogging failed… spectacularly. …
Thanks for sharing! I'm still hustling and have been rejected lately so the feeling is still here! :-) But that's the game of it right? I can pick and choose my clients or I can hustle hard and land some amazing clients! I wouldn't change it for the world!
Did you know that there is a science behind why motivational quotes inspire us?
By nature, humans are aspirational and we want to look up to role models and people we feel we have a connection with.
When those people put together words that speak to our hopes, dreams and struggles, we gravitate toward them and use them as a source for inspiration.
Even though we may not know these people personally or directly, we feel like we are being coached by them.
Also, we sometimes turn to inspirational quotes that affirm what we already know about ourselves. …
Do you know how to get what you want? We all have our own desires and dreams, but we also all have our hangups, issues, and roadblocks that keep us from getting there.
For me, I want it all. I dream big. I want to be a New York Times bestselling author. I want to have a body like Jennifer Lopez. I want to make a good living from my blog. I want a large family full of happy, smart kids. I want a marriage that is fulfilling and lasts forever. And the list goes on.
The problem is, I…
learn what a freelance writer & blogger is doing for 2021
Over on my Youtube channel, I shared my writing goals and was surprised by how many encouraged me to accomplish them, but particularly one writing goal I “threw” out in the ethers of a Youtube live discussion.
I’ve been freelance writing and blogging since 2014, and I know over the years I’ve improved my writing skills and knowledge within my niche. I’ve even ventured out of my writing niche to learn new topics and new industries. …
I started blogging almost seven years ago, but it wasn’t until the last four years that I saw the potential of working from home for good. That was also the time my husband realized it and decided to join my business, and help me run it.
For many new bloggers the idea of making your first $1,000 from your blog is a gigantic feat, but I want to talk to those that are already making money blogging but want to double their income or scale their business.
So, how will I go from $20k/month to hopefully $50k/month from blogging?Let’s …
